What is “rush”?
Rush is a series of events hosted during the first two weeks of the semester for prospective individuals who are interested in learning about an organization. If you'd like to view Phi Delta Alpha's rush week schedule, click here.
What CAN I expect from a Rush event?
During the rush period, there will be events designed for individuals to take a glimpse of the sorority. It will allow you to meet the sisters individually and get an idea of what Phi Dee is about. You are not obligated to join the sorority if you rush; it is simply a trial period to see if Phi Delta Alpha is right for you.
What is the cost of rushing?
Rushing for Phi Delta Alpha is completely free of charge. There are no obligations, hidden contracts, or fees. Everything at the rush events will be provided for you, including food and transportation, if needed.
What KIND OF GIRLS JOIN Phi Dee?
Phi Dee is comprised of a diverse group of girls with various personalities and goals in life. Many of us come from different backgrounds, and therefore joined on the common desire to make the most of college.
What occurs after the Rush process?
Following the rush process, there will be an interview. After the interview, a bid will be extended to potential new members. Upon accepting the bid, the “rushee” enters the new member process within the sorority.
What IS THE NEW MEMBER PROCESS?
The new member process is an 8-week process in which you will learn about the history, traditions, and sisters of Phi Delta Alpha. During this period of your college experience, some of the best memories, everlasting friendships, and amazing bonds will be made.
How much time commitment does this require?
Although the new member process does take time, it is absolutely manageable. We completely understand that we are all here for our education foremost and will not ask you to compromise any academic priorities. We are very willing to work with your schedule and we will give you prior notice for you to schedule work, academic, or any time commitment accordingly.
DOES OUR ORGANIZATION HAZE?
“Hazing” refers to any activity which recklessly or intentionally endangers the mental health or physical health or safety of a student for the purpose of initiation or admission into or affiliation with any organization operating subject to the sanction of the public or private school or of any institution of higher education in this state. Phi Delta Alpha abides by the University of Oklahoma's strict no hazing policy which prohibits all acts and forms of hazing.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BE A MEMBER?
Phi Delta Alpha has one of the lowest due amounts within the Multicultural Greek Council and is a tenth of the amount of larger sororities. To provide an estimate, actives and new member dues are under $200 per semester. In addition, we accommodate to your financial situation and payment plans are available to assist members if needed.
